Job summary

Auditor Of State in Marion, OH is seeking an Early Career Project Accountant 1 to support Local Government Services. This in-person role involves traveling to audit sites across Northwest Ohio and assisting with financial forecasting, reconciliations, and financial record reconstruction.

You will work with higher-level LGS staff, prepare working papers, and learn local government accounting procedures while supporting revenue and expenditure analyses for villages, townships, and school districts.

Qualifications

• Travel to audit site work locations across the Northwest Region of Ohio.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or completion of 16 semester hours accounting beyond high school or 3 years’ accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist higher level LGS staff with financial forecasting, GAAP conversion, reconciliations, and reconstruction of financial records.
• Gather financial information, prepare working papers, and apply procedures to client accounts.
• Help ensure compliance and assist in preparing local government services reports and other work products.
• Participate in meetings with local government officials to discuss financial reports and accounting procedures.
• Familiarize yourself with client accounting systems and report formats.
