Job summary

Auditor Of State is seeking accounting professionals to join external financial audit vacancies in Marion, Union, Richland, and Crawford Counties. You will support audits of cities, villages, and schools, ensuring taxpayer dollars are used according to law.

You will develop auditing techniques, perform fieldwork, and collaborate with audit teams to produce accurate findings and reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Alternative: 16 semester hours in accounting or related field beyond high school level.
  • At least three years of accounting or related field experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Travel to audit site work locations may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop working knowledge of auditing techniques, Ohio State government, auditing standards, and state fiscal practices.
  • Serve as a contributing member of an audit team and communicate with the team leader on methods.
  • Receive assignments of increasing difficulty and responsibility.
  • Conduct background research of audited agencies including statutes and regulations.
  • Travel to audit sites to obtain audit evidence and perform fieldwork.
  • Visually examine records and organize workpapers showing audit results.
  • Learn to gather and analyze data pertinent to audits performed by the office.
  • Review data and information pertinent to the audit.
  • Participate in interviews of agency staff to elicit information.
  • Help draft audit comments and preliminary audit findings.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
