Job summary

BL Harbert International in Birmingham, AL is seeking an Estimator to support cost estimates for commercial, federal, industrial, and healthcare projects. You will analyze drawings, quantify materials and labor, and gather pricing from subs and suppliers.

This is an entry-to-mid level opportunity with a supportive preconstruction team; a construction management or engineering degree is preferred, and proficiency in MS Office and estimating software is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with estimating software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing accurate and detailed estimates for construction projects.
• Support the evaluation of drawings and specifications to understand scope.
• Help collect and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Participate in internal estimating meetings and bid reviews.
• Assist with organizing bid documents and maintaining estimate records.
• Communicate scope of work and pricing with internal teams and subcontractors.
