Job summary

Brooksource is seeking a Junior Network Engineer in Plano, TX to provide hands-on support for installation activities and Day-2 service assurance. You’ll troubleshoot, support configuration, and optimize network performance while accommodating flexible shifts including nights and weekends.

Ideal candidates have hands-on Fortinet SD‑WAN experience, familiarity with Cisco/Juniper routing, and a solid grasp of Layer 2/3 networking.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience with Fortinet SD‑WAN solutions preferred.
Exposure to Cisco and Juniper routing.
Understanding of internetworking design principles and routing concepts.
Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking technologies.
Experience with common networking protocols.
Firewalls such as Fortinet, Cisco, Juniper or similar.
Certifications such as Fortinet NSE, CCNA, or CCNP are a plus.
Advanced certifications are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Provide hands-on support for IP routers, switches, firewalls, and SD‑WAN customer premises equipment.
Assist in designing, configuring, and deploying LAN and WAN connections, hardware, software, and services.
Monitor and optimize network performance; troubleshoot and resolve issues.
Support service provisioning and ensure network infrastructure meets standards.
Work directly with customers to diagnose and resolve technical issues.
Act as a technical contact for internal engineering teams on escalations.
Use independent judgment to resolve significant technical matters.
Maintain regular attendance; be able to work nights, weekends, and variable schedules.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
