Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Junior to Mid-Level Geologist/Environmental Scientist based in Pittsburgh, PA. The role involves a mix of field investigations, site assessments for real estate transactions, and reporting under varied regulatory programs across the region.

Ideal candidates hold a B.S. in Geology with 1–5 years of field data collection, technical writing, and environmental consulting experience. Hybrid work and safety-heavy field duties are expected as projects require.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Geology or related field with 1–5 years of experience.
• Experience in field data collection, analysis and technical writing.
• Environmental consulting experience or related background preferred.
• Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform field activities including drilling, logging, sampling environmental media and wastes, monitoring well installations, Phase I ESAs, and data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
• Prepare maps, charts, boring logs, and cross-sections depicting subsurface conditions.
• Use standard office software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Perform field testing using equipment and instrumentation.
• Prepare field reports, internal correspondence, sections of final reports, and regulatory reporting.
• Oversee subcontractors and / or other company employees in the field.
• Prepare health and safety plans / job hazard analyses and follow company / site safety standards.
• Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct scientific calculations.
• Perform infiltration testing to support permitting and construction projects.
