Job summary

Amentum Nuclear Projects in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking an Entry Level Mechanical Engineer to design, coordinate, and deliver building mechanical systems for industrial and government facilities. You will oversee HVAC, plumbing, and piping design, lead mechanical engineering teams, and ensure technical quality and compliance through the project lifecycle.

You will collaborate with project management, discipline leads, and clients to deliver fully coordinated, code‑compliant engineering

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency with design tools and codes used in mechanical building systems.

Responsibilities

• Design HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems including B31.3.
• Act as technical authority for mechanical design within scope.
• Review and check calculations, layouts, specs, drawings.
• Apply advanced engineering judgment to resolve design issues.
• Support project planning: scope, sizing, schedule, budget for mechanical design.
• Coordinate mechanical with structural/electrical/architectural/process.
• Apply codes (IMC, NFPA, ASHRAE).
• Interface with clients and stakeholders as senior technical contributor.
• Provide senior-level support during procurement/construction (RFIs, submittals).
• Mentor engineers and designers on codes and best practices.
• Ensure work complies with engineering/quality procedures.
