Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Engineer in the Dallas, TX office to assist in design, development, testing, and inspection of mechanical systems on infrastructure and building projects. You will support site data collection, basic design tasks, and documentation to ensure safety and functionality.

The role emphasizes learning through hands-on tasks, collaborating with the Property and Buildings Team, and applying AutoCAD/CAM knowledge in a growing, client‑facing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with design/build concepts.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems, codes and compliance.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non‑engineering audiences.
  • Attention to detail, multi‑tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work independently under supervision and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with technical writing, office software, and basic tools.
  • Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD, CAM).
  • Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, assist with data collection and analysis from site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, and reports.
  • Assist with basic professional mechanical engineering work on research of site conditions and equipment.
  • Perform routine engineering functions including load calculations and operating strategies.
  • Assist with verifying site characteristics and providing technical assistance on engineering issues.
  • Generate documentation and specifications using electronic systems and field logs.
  • Comply with safety guidelines and site procedures.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to company policies and ethical guidelines.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as required by projects.
