Job summary

HTU is seeking a Mechanical Engineer-in-training or experienced candidate for roles involving HVAC, piping, plumbing, and fire protection design. You will perform calculations, draft layouts, and coordinate with multiple disciplines to ensure project standards and codes are met.

The position emphasizes use of Revit/AutoCAD, field measurement, and collaboration with junior staff to develop engineering documents and specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or related field required or strongly preferred.
• EIT certification preferred.
• Internship in building design consulting is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of Building Information Modeling software (Revit and AutoCAD).
• Strong technical and analytical skills related to heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Perform calculations and design layouts for mechanical systems (HVAC, piping, plumbing, fire protection) with assistance.
• Create engineering documents using CAD (Revit, AutoCAD) or manually with junior staff support.
• Edit or draft project specifications with assistance.
• Conduct field measurements at construction sites.
• Review drawings for omissions, errors, quality, accuracy, and codes compliance.
• Review submittals for design content and actions to meet specs.
• Maintain organized project files with calculations and correspondence.
• Coordinate projects with other disciplines.
• Communicate scope changes to management and project managers.
