Job summary

The Mechanical Designer/Drafter I role at AeroVironment supports a team of engineers to design components, drawings and assemblies while managing documentation and change orders. You will create and modify designs, update bills of materials, and shepherd documents through configuration management.

You will apply GD&T, specify materials and finishes, and work on moderately difficult tasks with guidance from engineers and manufacturing staff. This is a full-time on-site role in Moorpark, CA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0–2 years of related experience in mechanical design/drafting.
• SolidWorks CAD/EPDM proficiency required.
• Experience in designing electro-mechanical systems, assemblies, packaging, and tooling.
• Knowledge of GD&T and industry documentation standards.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical parts, components & assemblies including composites and metals.
• Create and review engineering drawings and documents per standards.
• Analyze tolerances and fabrication methods for manufacturability.
• Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerance to drawings.
• Specify materials, finishes and workmanship callouts.
