Job summary

AV in Moorpark, CA is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter I to support a team of engineers in designing components, parts and assemblies and to create engineering drawings, change orders, and bills of materials.

You will collaborate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to document changes, update BOMs, and shepherd documents through configuration management while applying GD&T and ASME standards to improve manufacturability of electro-mechanical and composite parts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
• 0-2 years of related experience with mechanical design and drafting
• SolidWorks EPDM proficiency; SolidWorks CAD expertise
• Experience designing composite aerospace structures and related manufacturing processes
• Experience with electro-mechanical systems, electronics packaging, composite parts, tooling & fixtures, and wire assemblies
• Experience creating drawings: machined, composite, sheet metal, wire assembly, weldments; knowledge of GD&T/ASME/Change Control

Responsibilities

• Designs mechanical parts, components & assemblies, including composite parts, metallic, and non-metallic
• Creates and reviews engineering drawings and documents conforming to standards
• Analyzes tolerances and fabrication methods to ensure manufacturability
• Applies geometric dimensioning and tolerance
• Specifies materials, finishes, and workmanship callouts
• Works on moderately difficult assignments requiring judgment
• Other duties as assigned
