Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is expanding its Cloud services team with a Junior Linux Engineer role in the United States.

This position is ideal for someone with foundational knowledge of Linux, Docker, and Ansible concepts, and a strong desire to grow hands-on in system administration and production operations. You will monitor system health, identify incidents, escalate issues, and collaborate with senior engineers to improve reliability.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• Foundational knowledge of Linux administration (filesystems, permissions, processes, networking).
• Hands-on experience with Docker/K8S (containers, logs, troubleshooting).
• Basic understanding of Ansible language concepts.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health and perform shifts to ensure availability.
• Identify incidents, troubleshoot, and escalate per procedures.
• Document incidents and outcomes clearly.
• Assist in maintaining and improving monitoring tools like Grafana and DataDog.
• Follow runbooks to ensure consistent handling of events.
