Job summary

Akamai Technologies is seeking a Junior Linux Engineer to join our Cloud services team. You will monitor system health, escalate issues, and work with senior engineers to improve reliability, performance, and uptime.

Qualified candidates have 2+ years of experience, foundational Linux administration skills, Docker/K8s usage, and basic Ansible concepts. You’ll join a collaborative team and grow hands-on in production operations while supporting on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree.
• Foundational knowledge of Linux administration, including filesystems, permissions, processes and networking basics.
• Hands-on experience with Docker/Kubernetes containers and logs, plus basic image handling.
• Familiarity with Ansible concepts and language basics (registers, memory layouts, low-level ops).

Responsibilities

• Perform monitoring shifts to ensure system availability and performance.
• Identify incidents, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalate per procedures.
• Document incidents, steps taken, and outcomes clearly.
• Assist in maintaining and improving monitoring tools like Grafana and DataDog dashboards.
• Follow runbooks and procedures to ensure consistent event handling.
