Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to serve as the technical owner for lighting systems, guiding development from concept through mass production. You will define part requirements and ensure manufacturability and compliance across studio, engineering and suppliers.

You will bridge design and manufacturing, apply DT&R processes, and drive cross-functional collaboration with studio, manufacturing and program management to resolve complex engineering challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Experience in exterior/interior lamp development at Tier 1 or OEM preferred.
• Capable of managing full part lifecycle from design to production.

Responsibilities

• Translate styling visions into production-ready lighting solutions.
• Resolve technical challenges with first-principles reasoning and root-cause analysis; leverage plastics, injection molding, optics and electronics for high-volume manufacturing.
• Apply GD&T and perform tolerance stack-up analyses to meet fit, finish and quality standards.
• Lead the development of DFMEA.
• Define and validate requirements with DVP&R.
• Manage Tier 1 supplier relationships including RFQ docs and design reviews.
• Execute engineering change management and maintain Bills of Materials using Enovia.
• Create and manage 3D/2D data with CATIA V6.
• Align engineering deliverables with program targets (appearance, cost, weight, durability, legal, timing).
• Communicate technical concepts to stakeholders to drive cross-functional collaboration.
