Job summary

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies seeks a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer to join our software team.

You will lead development and integration of exterior and interior lighting architecture across Rivian and VW vehicle platforms, focusing on scalable, portable code and hardware compatibility. The role requires a strong background in automotive control systems, C and Python, RTOS, CAN/LIN tools, and experience mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or higher in electrical or mechanical engineering; master’s preferred.
5+ years in automotive control systems with lighting or graphics experience a plus.
Strong C and Python skills; Linux experience beneficial.
Embedded RTOS experience; memory management and optimization knowledge.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and requirements management tools.

Responsibilities

Own significant portion of lighting software design, development and testing.
Lead scalable software design across platforms and future programs.
Collaborate with system engineering to ensure requirements traceability.
Participate in hardware design reviews and SW-to-hardware compatibility.
Mentor junior engineers to deliver high-quality code optimized for RAM, compute and flash.
Ensure board bring-up and bench testing of software with hardware.
Develop validation strategy and calibration plan at feature level for full vehicle delivery.
Create unit tests, SIL and HIL test scripts for features.
Prioritize issues by impact and program objectives with clear decisions.
