Job summary

ADP, Inc. is seeking an Entry-Level IT/Programmer in San Antonio, Texas. The role focuses on COBOL programming, Linux, and Windows environments, with hands-on helpdesk experience. You will support legacy COBOL apps, assist with system administration, and collaborate with senior IT staff to implement improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
• Basic knowledge of COBOL programming
• Familiarity with Linux command line and file system structure
• Understanding of Microsoft Windows OS and common administrative tasks
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support legacy applications written in COBOL
• Provide first-level helpdesk support to internal users for hardware, software, and system issues (Windows/Linux)
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot basic issues on Linux and Windows servers
• Assist in maintaining and updating system documentation
• Collaborate with senior developers and IT staff on enhancements and bug fixes
• Perform routine system administration tasks and patch management
• Support onboarding of new users (hardware/software setup, account provisioning)
• Assist with basic network troubleshooting (IP configuration, connectivity, DNS)
