Job summary

Kent County is seeking a GIS Technician I in Dover, Delaware, to perform skilled CAD and GIS work in preparing and drawing utility locations, maps, and plans. Work under general supervision, coordinating with the Assistant Director of Engineering and the Public Works Director.

Minimum education includes high school graduation or GED with at least 1 year of cartographic experience and proficiency in AutoCAD, ESRI Arc GIS and Windows software.

Qualifications

• Requires High School graduation or GED with at least 1 year of cartographic experience.
• Experience with AutoCAD, ESRI Arc GIS and Windows software is required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Performs drafting for County utility projects.
• Drafts district boundary lines, pumping stations, roads, light poles, and related facilities.
• Plots and coordinates land features and utilities on maps from field notes or data.
• Researches titles to locate owners and chain of title.
• Draws and revises utility maps for the County.
• Digitizes plans and maps, updates data, and copies plots/maps.
