Job summary

Town of Manchester seeks a GIS Technician to maintain and update the Public Works and Water/Sewer records, maps and databases. You will support property boundary research, utility locations and related engineering data, and assist in drafting for construction projects.

Responsibilities include permit issuance, map preparation, and maintaining address databases, with collaboration across Town staff and agencies. Strong AutoCAD/ArcInfo experience is required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited program with an Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Two years of experience in CAD/GIS, field and office work in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience with AutoCAD and ArcInfo 8 or higher is required.
• Must have a valid Connecticut driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update records, maps, and databases for Public Works, Water, and Sewer.
• Provide information to the public or Town agencies as needed.
• Search files for property boundaries, utility locations, and related engineering data.
• Issue permits and collect fees as needed.
• Prepare maps, charts, exhibits for reports and presentations.
• Participate in design and drafting for construction, repair, and maintenance projects.
• Establish and maintain address number database.
• Update digital data layers in GIS/Asset Management systems per Town standards.
