Dorchester County is seeking a GIS-focused technician to support the Assessor’s Office with map preparation and record maintenance. This full-time role involves converting maps to digital databases, interpreting field notes, and producing digital layouts for planners and engineers.
The position requires a high school diploma or GED plus coursework or a year of college, with at least two years of GIS mapping experience.
The purpose of this job is to perform routine-to-complex technical and clerical work in support of the operations of the Assessor’s Office including the manual and computer-assisted preparation and maintenance of property maps and records.
This position works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

This is a full-time position; typical work hours and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but employees must be available during the “core” work hours of 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and must work 40 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Must be available to work anytime during emergencies.
