Job summary

AEP in Bridgman, MI is hiring an entry-level Fire Protection Technician (Junior) to join the Fire Protection Department near the Cook Nuclear Plant. You will undergo OJT to become certified, perform inspections and emergency readiness tasks, and support fire prevention activities in an industrial setting.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and either MFFTC Firefighter I & II or an associated technical degree or related certification.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• MFFTC Firefighter I & II or related degree/certification acceptable.
• 1 year firefighting experience or 2 years in related technical field preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Pass an initial and annual physical examination and relevant tests.
• Conduct Fire Protection Program inspections and surveillance.
• Perform Fire Protection Equipment Impairment Reviews and determine isolation boundaries.
• Maintain emergency response equipment and perform data input tasks.
• Complete On the Job Training (OJT) and Task Performance Evaluations (TPE) to qualify as Fire Protection Technician.
