Job summary

AEP is seeking a Chemistry Technician in Bridgman, MI to perform technical and specialized chemical analyses. The role involves instrument calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, data analysis and documentation to maintain optimal system chemistry.

Required Education includes an Associate degree in Chemistry or related field with two years of experience and at least one year of related training. The position requires safe work practices and compliance with safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Two years' experience, with a minimum of 2 years in the respective specialty, and 1 year of related technical training.
  • Successful completion of the Plant Technician Selection System (TECH) test is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis, instrument calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and document corrective actions.
  • Conduct tests, sampling operations, and analyses to maintain system chemistry.
  • Analyze data and calculate test results for reports and system chemistry.
  • Perform calibration checks for laboratory instruments, radiochemical instruments, and in-line process analyzers and document checks.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance as needed.
  • Lead and direct other technicians, when required, to obtain satisfactory work results.
  • Support Emergency Plan Organization, HAZMAT, and Corrective Action Program activities.
  • Work safely in compliance with company safety policies.
