Job summary

PAE is seeking an entry-level Fire Protection Design Engineer to join our Portland, OR team in a hybrid office environment. This role offers mentorship to transition from theory to professional practice in plumbing system design and code compliance.

You will learn to use Revit/AutoCAD, perform basic hydraulic and battery sizing calculations, and contribute to layout and design of fire protection and plumbing systems under experienced project leads.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with mechanical or fire protection focus.
• Engineer in Training or ability to obtain is preferred.
• Previous internship in building systems or fire protection is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop foundational knowledge in fire protection and plumbing design.
• Model and document systems using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Provide task-based support for fire sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
• Understand drawings, codes (NFPA) and industry standards.
• Complete tasks with guidance from project team members.
• Assist with construction administration and basic hydraulics calculations.
