Job description

The Junior Financial Analyst, Pricing & Sales Strategy, is responsible for analyzing market trends, competitive pricing, and sales performance to develop pricing strategies that maximize profitability and market share. This position collaborates closely with sales, operations, and finance teams to drive effective pricing models and support the company’s strategic sales initiatives.

Responsibilities

Lead the development and execution of pricing strategies that align with the company’s objectives and market dynamics.

  • Analyze market trends, customer demand, competitor pricing, and cost structures to provide recommendations for pricing adjustments.
  • Develop pricing models that balance profitability with customer value and market competitiveness.
  • Conduct pricing sensitivity analysis to understand the potential impact of pricing changes on sales volumes and profitability.
  • Sales Strategy Support :

Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to align pricing with sales strategies and business objectives.

  • Support sales teams with pricing strategies that enhance their ability to close deals and win new business.
  • Provide insights into customer segmentation and tailor pricing strategies for different market segments or customer profiles.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting :

Prepare financial models and forecasts to assess the impact of pricing strategies on revenue, margins, and overall financial performance.

  • Analyze and report on pricing performance, including the effectiveness of pricing changes and promotions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales growth, margin improvement, and customer acquisition cost.
  • Conduct in-depth profitability analysis by product, customer, and region.
  • Market & Competitor Analysis :

Conduct regular market and competitor pricing analysis to keep track of industry trends and identify opportunities for pricing optimization.

  • Use industry data, surveys, and research tools to assess competitive pricing strategies and market conditions.
  • Provide actionable insights from market analysis to inform pricing decisions and sales strategies.
  • Pricing Governance and Compliance :

Ensure that pricing strategies are consistent with corporate policies, compliance requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Work with legal and compliance teams to review pricing practices and ensure they align with industry standards and legal requirements.
  • Collaboration & Cross-functional Engagement :

Partner with product management, finance, sales, and marketing teams to align pricing strategies with product offerings and sales campaigns.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align pricing strategies with the company’s broader financial and operational goals.
  • Support cross-functional projects related to new product launches, pricing changes, and sales performance improvements.
  • Process Improvement :

Identify opportunities to streamline pricing processes and improve efficiency.

  • Enhance pricing tools, systems, and methodologies to improve the accuracy and timeliness of pricing analysis and decision-making.
  • Provide guidance and training on pricing best practices to other departments.

Qualifications

  • Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Experience :

3+ years of experience in financial analysis, pricing strategy, or sales strategy, preferably in a corporate or consulting environment.

  • Strong background in pricing models, financial forecasting, and sales performance analysis.
  • Proven track record in supporting or developing pricing strategies that have led to revenue or margin improvements.
  • Skills :

Strong proficiency in financial modeling, pricing analysis, and Excel.

  • Experience with building pricing tools.
  • Excellent understanding of market research, competitive analysis, and customer behavior.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to think strategically and drive business decisions.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex analysis to senior leadership.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships across different teams and levels of the organization.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
