Job summary

KLJ is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineering professional in Sioux Falls to assist with data collection, analysis, and basic design support for project development, design, and construction. You will help verify site conditions, ensure regulatory compliance, and produce concise documentation from field notes and drawings.

The role emphasizes research, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or in a team, with occasional travel and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong research and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with design/build processes and regulatory requirements.
• Clear communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.

• Ability to work independently or in a team to meet objectives.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from site surveys, GIS data, maps, and other sources for project development.
• Support basic professional civil engineering work and observations of site conditions to ensure compliance with rules and permits.
• Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and safety considerations.
• Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on environmental and construction issues.
• Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and site procedures; complete assigned task training.
• Demonstrate ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources.
• Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support business needs.
