Job summary

KLJ in Rapid City, SD is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to support data collection, analysis, and documentation on project sites. You will assist with evaluating site conditions, surveys, and permits while learning design and construction processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
Basic understanding of process and concepts for design/build.
Basic understanding of relevant environmental and construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
Ability to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Familiarity with discipline-specific design software
Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.
Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing site data for project development.
Conduct research and observe site conditions to ensure conformance with rules and permits.
Provide entry-level technical support on design requirements and safety considerations for end-users and infrastructure.
Verify site characteristics and advise on environmental, design, and construction issues.
Prepare complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and field logs.
Follow safety guidelines and site procedures including data and surveys.
Complete training on assigned tasks.
Adhere to KLJ policies and responsibly manage funds and resources.
Perform additional duties as needed by business needs.
