Job summary

KLJ in Valley City, ND, is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer to assist with data collection, site assessments, and basic design tasks for project development and construction. You’ll work under supervision to learn and apply civil engineering methods while ensuring safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include documenting findings, supporting design efforts, and preparing technical reports. Travel may be required; a strong analytical mindset and teamwork are essential at KLJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or closely related discipline.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Basic understanding of design/build concepts.
• Familiar with environmental and construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist data collection, compilation, and analysis from surveys, GIS data, and maps for project development.
• Assist with basic civil engineering tasks, site condition observations, and conformance checks.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and safety for end-users and infrastructure.
• Verify site characteristics and offer basic technical input on environmental and construction issues.
• Generate concise documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs.
• Follow safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
• Complete assigned task training.
• Adhere to KLJ policies and budget/resource rules.
• Take on additional duties as needed by business needs.
