Job summary

GAP Solutions Inc in the United States seeks a Junior Human Resource Specialist to support DHS ICE OHC HR operations, assisting managers, program staff, and customers on the full range of HR topics including staffing, classification, benefits, recruitment, compensation, SES programs, and labor relations.

You will handle payroll processing, document management, SOP drafting, and provide general HR guidance while coordinating calendars, travel, meetings, and correspondence in line with agency

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or 3 years federal HR experience.
• Knowledge of Health and Human Services Guidelines for federal drug testing and a valid driver’s license.
• U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident and must reside in the United States or its Territories; 3+ years of residency in last five years.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Advanced presentation skills.
• Ability to work well in group or individually.

Responsibilities

• Process personnel and payroll actions and key payroll documents.
• Create vacancy, retirement and payroll folders.
• Research waiver and hearing requests.
• Scan documents into personnel record systems.
• Assist with drafting SOPs.
• Process personal liability insurance reimbursement claims.
• Prepare selection notifications and disposition letters.
• Research and compile information on federal HR topics.
• Provide HR guidance to applicants and staff; maintain employee files.
• Support managers and program staff with calendars, travel, scheduling, and meetings.
• Open and route mail; manage files per agency guidelines; monitor supplies.
• Support pay-setting corrections and entitlements; advise on base pay, overtime, leave.
