Job summary

HCL Technologies Limited seeks an Exchange Support Engineer to design, maintain, and support our enterprise messaging environment. The role focuses on Exchange Online and on-prem hybrid configurations, mail flow, and automation via PowerShell.

The candidate will resolve incidents, manage user access, and document procedures, collaborating with Microsoft Premier Support to handle complex incidents and ensure high mail availability.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of direct experience administering Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online.
• Solid grasp of Active Directory, DNS, SMTP routing, and Microsoft 365 tenant management.
• PowerShell: basic familiarity with running and modifying basic Exchange cmdlets (e.g., Get-Mailbox, Set-Mailbox)

Responsibilities

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Exchange Support Engineer to design, maintain, and support our enterprise messaging environment. The ideal candidate will possess a working foundational knowledge of Microsoft Exchange Server (hybrid/on-premises) and Exchange Online. Teams experience a plus. You will be responsible for resolving technical incidents, ensuring optimal mail flow, managing user access, and using PowerShell to automate administrative tasks at scale. Proficiency maintaining documentation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Exchange Online & Hybrid Administration

• Administer and manage the organization’s Microsoft 365 Exchange Online (EXO) and OnPrem Exchange environment, including mailboxes, distribution lists, resource mailboxes, and shared mailboxes.
• Assist in managing Exchange environments in hybrid configurations.
• Troubleshoot mail flow/email delivery issues and Non-Delivery Receipts (NDRs) involving SMTP connectors, SPF/DKIM/DMARC policies, and anti-spam/antimalware.
• Familiarity with Public SSL Certs and their use in Mail Flow and Hybrid Config
• Utilize Exchange PowerShell to run basic commands for mailbox settings, permission changes, etc. and to execute scripts for bulk operations.
• Provide Tier 2/Tier 3 support for escalated end-user messaging issues (e.g., Outlook connectivity, calendar sharing, and mobile device synchronization).
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues and proactively monitor system health to prevent service outages.
• Collaborate with Microsoft Premier Support to resolve highly complex, escalated Exchange incidents.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: 1-3 years of direct experience administering and supporting Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online.
• Technical Skills: Solid grasp of Active Directory, DNS, SMTP routing, and Microsoft 365 tenant management.
• PowerShell: Basic familiarity with running and modifying basic PowerShell cmdlets for Exchange (e.g., Get-Mailbox, Set-Mailbox, Get-MessageTrace).
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical problem-solving capabilities, a focus on customer service, and solid written and verbal communication.

Preferred Certifications

• Microsoft 365 Certified: Messaging Administrator Associate

A candidate’s pay within the range will depend on their skills, experience, education, and other factors permitted by law. This role may also be eligible for performance-based bonuses subject to HCL policies.
