Job summary

You will work with senior estimators, project managers, and construction staff to learn scope, costs, and construction requirements for solar projects. The ideal candidate has 1+ year estimating experience in commercial electrical or civil construction, can read electrical and civil drawings, and is proficient with Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

North American Renewables (NAR) is looking for a Junior Estimator – Solar to join our growing pre-construction team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in solar, electrical or civil constructionwho is looking to build their estimating career in the renewable energy industry. You’ll work closely with Senior Estimators, Project Managers, and the Construction team while developing a strong understanding of project scope, costs, and construction requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Review project documents, drawings, specifications, and proposals to understand project scope and requirements.
• Assist with preparing estimates for labor, materials, time, and project costs.
• Perform quantity take-offs and apply unit pricing for labor and materials.
• Assist with preparing, distributing, and managing requests for quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Help prepare scopes of work, including qualifications, assumptions, and exclusions.
• Review historical and buyout costs to help improve estimating accuracy.
• Compare pricing from multiple subcontractors and suppliers.
• Assist with preparing detailed project handoff packages for construction teams.
• Participate in pre-construction strategy meetings and discussions regarding project approach and estimates.
• Assist with RFP and RFQ responses.
• Attend project walkthroughs to become familiar with plans, elevations, and site conditions.
• Generate RFIs during the bid process.
• Work with team members to support accurate and competitive project bids.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Minimum 1 year of estimating experience in commercial electrical or civil construction.
• General understanding of commercial solar construction.
• Ability to read and understand civil and electrical drawings.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Bluebeam.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable participating in client and scope review calls.
• Ability and reliable transportation to attend project site visits.
• High school diploma required.
• OSHA 10 certification required.
