Job summary

Stewart Iron Works is seeking an Estimator I to join our estimating team. You will develop accurate quantity takeoffs, price materials and labor, and help prepare competitive bids for metal fabrication and installation projects.

The role supports moving opportunities from plans to production and involves collaboration with senior estimators, project teams, and suppliers. You’ll review drawings, gather pricing, and learn Division 5 Metals, fabrication processes, and installation methods while

Qualifications

An associate or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Construction, Drafting Technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may also be considered.
0–3 years of construction estimating, metal fabrication, construction management, drafting, or related experience.
Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, structural drawings, specifications, and other construction documents.

Responsibilities

Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, addenda, and other project documents to identify the scope of metalwork.
Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and other project requirements.
Assist in developing estimates for fabricated and installed metalwork, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, architectural bronze, and related materials.
Gather and organize pricing from suppliers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal resources.
Assist with evaluating material pricing, labor requirements, fabrication considerations, installation requirements, and project lead times.
Work with senior estimators to develop detailed scopes of work, cost analyses, and competitive bid proposals.
