Stewart Iron Works is seeking an Estimator I to support our estimating team with accurate quantity takeoffs, material and labor pricing, bid preparation, and organized bid data. You’ll learn Division 5 Metals and how projects move from plans to production alongside experienced estimators.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings, specs, and construction documents.
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills with emphasis on accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Willingness to learn estimating, takeoff, and construction software.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify the scope of metalwork.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Assist in developing estimates for fabricated and installed metalwork.
• Gather and organize pricing from suppliers and internal resources.
• Support senior estimators in cost analyses and bid proposals.
• Review vendor quotations for scope coverage and accuracy.
• Identify discrepancies and gaps, and work with the team to resolve questions.
• Coordinate with project management and fabrication teams to understand cost implications.
• Maintain organized estimate files and bid data.
• Participate in bid reviews and project handoffs.
• Continuously improve estimating knowledge and processes.
