Qualifications

• 0–3 years of experience in construction estimating or a related role.
• Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience with a General Contractor is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of construction drawings, materials, and methods.
• Familiarity with estimating software like Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OST is beneficial.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects.
• Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment.
• Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Support senior estimators with bid preparation and submissions.
• Identify potential project risks, cost-saving opportunities, and scope gaps.
• Maintain accurate estimating documentation and historical cost data.
• Collaborate with project managers and preconstruction teams throughout the bidding process.

We are working with an established General Contractor in Chicago that is looking to add a Junior Estimator to its growing preconstruction team.
