Job summary

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) is seeking an entry-level Environmental Geologist or Scientist to support field assessment work and remediation projects across Louisiana from the Baton Rouge area office. The role involves field sampling (groundwater, soil, sediment, surface water, and air) and data analysis under the guidance of senior professionals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, geology, or related earth sciences.
• 0-3 years of relevant experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic understanding of the environmental consulting industry.
• HAZWOPER training (preferred).
• Internship or relevant work experience in environmental consulting (preferred).
• RECAP/Louisiana training (preferred).
• Soil and groundwater sampling experience (preferred).
• Experience overseeing environmental drilling activities (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations and collect soil, water, and/or air samples for laboratory analysis.
• Utilize field sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure samples meet quality standards.
• Assist in preparing environmental assessment and regulatory compliance reports.
• Analyze laboratory and field data using various software tools.
• Work under supervision of a senior professional and participate in team meetings.
• Develop groundwater contour maps using water level data.
• Participate in well canvasses and sensitive receptor evaluations.
• Coordinate and schedule field events; supervise subcontractors as needed.
• Support senior staff in developing site rehabilitation plans and environmental management strategies.
• Identify viable remedial solutions compliant with regulations.
