Job summary

Groundwater & Environmental Services, Inc. (GES) in Baton Rouge, LA seeks an entry-level Environmental Geologist/Scientist to support field assessment work and remediation projects across Louisiana from our Baton Rouge area office.

Responsibilities include collecting samples, assisting senior staff, analyzing data, and contributing to technical reports for regulatory agencies. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, with a drive to grow in environmental consulting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science, geology, or other related earth sciences
• 0-3 years of relevant experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Basic understanding of environmental consulting industry

Responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations and collect soil, water, and/or air samples
• Utilize field sampling and monitoring equipment to ensure field samples are being obtained under stringent quality standards
• Assist in the preparation of environmental assessment reports and regulatory compliance reports
• Analyze laboratory and field monitoring data using various software tools and methodologies
• Work directly under a Senior professional, participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution
• Use field water level data to groundwater contour maps/flow nets
• Participate in the completion of well canvasses, well searches and sensitive receptor evaluations
• Participate in the coordination and scheduling of field events
• Perform supervisory oversight of subcontractors during field events
• Support senior staff and licensed professionals in developing site rehabilitation plans and environmental management strategies
• Participate in the identification of viable remedial solutions consistent with all Federal, state, and local regulations
