Job summary

Monterey Regional Waste Management District seeks a Civil/Environmental Engineer-in-Training to join the ReGen Monterey environmental compliance team. Under supervision, you will assist with design, permitting, operation, and maintenance of landfill environmental controls and support sampling and reporting programs.

The role requires 1-2 years of civil engineering or environmental protection experience, an EIT certificate, and a plan to obtain a PE license within five years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field.
• 1-2 years of civil engineering, environmental protection, and compliance related experience.
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate; plan to obtain PE within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical support for design, permitting, operation, and maintenance of environmental control systems.
• Coordinates sampling, monitoring, and reporting for landfill operations and related programs.
• Assists in maintaining environmental compliance records and project files.
• Reviews drafts of environmental or project reports for internal and external audiences.
• Trains staff on sampling techniques and field inspections.
• Participates in public meetings and communicates with regulatory agencies and the public.
