Job summary

ERG is seeking a motivated Junior Engineer, Scientist, or Technician to support EPA Office of Research and Development projects in Chapel Hill, NC. You will assist in the design, development, and testing of processes or experiments under senior engineers, and help prepare technical reports and data analyses.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in a related field, hands-on lab experience, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a willingness to travel for field projects across the country.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of on-site research support experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mechanical skills.
• Knowledge of air quality concepts and EPA methods is a plus.
• Willingness to travel for field projects nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Assist design, development, and testing of new processes or experiments under senior staff.
• Support preparation of technical reports, data analysis, and project documentation.
• Troubleshoot and maintain laboratory and field equipment.
• Execute technical projects under guidance of senior staff.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions.
• Follow safety guidelines and ensure compliance with policies.
• Collect data, perform tests, and compile results for ongoing projects.
• Prepare project plans, schedules, and materials for execution.
• Evaluate emerging technologies for potential integration.
• Present findings and progress to leadership or clients as appropriate.
