Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is seeking a Software Engineer student intern to join the Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering group. You will design, implement, test and architect software across embedded and offboard systems, contributing to technologies from low level SW to cloud solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on development in C/C++, exposure to Android, QNX and Linux environments, and collaboration in an Agile Scrum team.

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science with graduation between December 2026 and June 2027.
Must be able to work in southeast Michigan and full‑time (40 hours per week).
Proficient in C, C++ programming languages.

Responsibilities

Deliver high‑quality software for embedded controls systems across vehicle platforms and ecosystems.
Design, implement, test and document software across Low level SW, embedded SW, Digital SW, and Offboard SW (Cloud, Edge).
Work as part of an Agile Scrum team to plan, develop and demonstrate software functionality.
Utilize automated test tools and link requirements to test cases to verify software at Controller, System, and Vehicle level.
