Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Early Career Electrical Engineer (Distribution) for our Spring, TX office. Be involved in projects with our Power and Energy Team and support the design, development, and construction of utility-scale projects while collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for substation components and procurement packages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 0–1 year of post-education experience.
• Strong research and analytical abilities.
• Understanding of electrical design for large capital projects.
• Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, and standards.
• Ability to communicate clearly with engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Detail-oriented with good self-leadership and multitasking.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Familiarity with design software (AutoCAD Electrical, Aspen, CAPE).
• Commitment to workplace safety and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data for substation components and procurement packages.
• Support design work for single line and three-line diagrams, bus layouts, grounding, and protection concepts.
• Provide entry-level engineering support on equipment sizing, cabling, panel design, and conduit layouts.
• Verify site characteristics and provide basic engineering assistance.
• Develop electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, and voltage drop under supervision.
• Generate documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and permit requirements.
• Complete training on assigned tasks and support project needs.
