Job summary

WSP seeks an Early Professional, Electrical Engineer for its Overland Park, KS office. You’ll participate in the design and analysis of substations, power delivery, and related systems under supervision, with opportunities to grow in a multidisciplinary energy team.

The role involves data collection, basic calculations, and documentation aligned with industry standards and safety practices, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
0 to 1 year of post-education experience.
Strong research and analytical skills with clear communication.
Familiarity with electrical design practices, codes, and record-keeping.
Ability to work independently or in a team and manage multiple tasks.
Basic proficiency with technical writing and common software/tools.
Experience with design software like CADD, Aspen, CAPE, and AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.

Responsibilities

Assist with data collection and analysis for substation components and equipment.
Support design work, including single-line and bus arrangement drawings.
Help develop electrical calculations for loads and sizing.
Produce documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field notes.
Contribute to safety and compliance procedures and site requirements.
Prepare drafting and design diagrams under supervision.
Support project teams with engineering tasks and reporting.
Engage in training and development tasks as assigned.
Comply with WSP code of conduct and safety policies.
