Burns & McDonnell in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Assistant Electrical Engineer to support project teams across power, process, healthcare, airports, and industrial facilities. You will assist from concept through design completion, adapting plans to budget and client needs.

The role emphasizes basic electrical engineering concepts, CAD and BIM tasks, field inspections, and collaboration with senior engineers.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
Internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Legal work authorization in the country of work.
Basic knowledge of standard electrical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in CAD software and electrical analysis programs (e.g., RISA, AutoCAD, BIM).

Responsibilities

Assist in electrical design from conceptual phase through design completion.
Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for various projects.
Assist in designing electrical components per project manager requirements.
Apply basic electrical engineering concepts, codes, and procedures.
Support research and compile project-related data.
Update drawings with corrections across CAD software.
Assist with client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
Contribute to field inspections, measurements, or calculations for clients.
Perform other duties and comply with policies.
