Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Fort Worth, TX seeks an Assistant Electrical Engineer to support project teams in designing electrical systems for power, process, healthcare, airports, and more. You will assist with drawings, CAD/BIM updates, and client presentations throughout design and construction phases.

The role emphasizes basic electrical techniques, strong communication, and the ability to work in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment. Prior internship and EIT are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
• Basic knowledge in standard electrical engineering techniques, principles and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
• Basic computer skills include electrical analysis programs (e.g., RISA), AutoCAD, BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla), programs.
• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in electrical design from concept through design completion.
• Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for various facilities.
• Assist in designing electrical components per project managers' requirements.
• Apply basic knowledge of electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures.
• Assist with research and data required by project managers.
• Assist with updating drawings in CAD software across projects.
• Support client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
• Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations.
