Descrizione del lavoro

Most design jobs teach you to pick beautiful things. Few teach you what comes after: the lead times, the tile counts, the vanity that has to land before the plumber does. Even fewer ask what those finishes do to the air a family breathes for the next twenty years. Here you’ll learn all of it.

We’re Enso Homes, an Austin design-build remodeler doing it differently. Non-toxic, mold-resistant, sustainable materials, and the building science to back them up. Two things we say constantly: Clarity Before Construction. Built On Systems, Not Guesswork.

We’re looking for an Junior Designer to be our Senior Interior Designer’s right hand and own every detail from selection to delivery.

The Basics

  • Base: $55,000 to $62,000, depending on experience
  • Mileage reimbursement at the IRS rate
  • Austin, in person, full-time. Mostly Monday to Friday, occasional Saturdays
  • Reports to our Senior Interior Designer
  • Regular showroom, vendor and job site runs, so you’ll need a reliable vehicle

The Role

Our Senior Interior Designer sets the design direction. You make sure it shows up on site, on time, exactly as specified. This is a design job with procurement at its core. About half your week is sourcing, ordering and tracking. The other half is showrooms, client walkthroughs, site visits and design support.

The biggest thing you’ll help own is our Ready to Build gate. No job starts construction until:

  • Critical dimensions are field-verified
  • 100% of selections are made
  • Every long-lead item is ordered
  • Permit is in hand
  • Scope of work is signed
  • Budget and schedule are set

Selections and long-lead orders are yours to own.

What You’ll Own

  • Order lists built from selections sheets and drawings, with quantities and waste factors (our superintendent field-verifies measured items before you order)
  • Quotes, orders, lead times and confirmed ship dates
  • A procurement tracker for every job: item, quantity, vendor, needed-by date and status
  • Backorders, damages and returns, handled before they turn into schedule problems
  • Accurate orders and costs in JobTread
  • A short weekly status: what was ordered, dollars committed, what’s blocked and on whom
  • Sourcing that meets design intent, budget and our healthy-materials standards, including better pricing on the same product
  • Showroom and vendor runs, client samples, and site visits to check conditions and installed finishes
  • Client walkthroughs. Shadowing first, then running smaller ones yourself
  • Finish schedules, mood boards and presentations, plus keeping the client portal and ClickUp current

How We Measure It

  • Every item ordered by its needed-by date, with zero construction delays from late materials
  • Zero construction starts with long-lead items still unordered
  • A procurement tracker that’s 100% current and a weekly status sent on time
  • Ordering errors (wrong SKU, wrong quantity) near zero
  • Dollars saved against selections budgets

What You Bring

  • 2+ years of paid experience in residential interior design, design-build or a kitchen and bath showroom
  • Hands-on procurement. You’ve quoted, ordered, tracked and chased vendors, not just picked finishes
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in interior design or a related field
  • SketchUp or AutoCAD skills you use regularly
  • You know how a design becomes a built room: selection, order, delivery, install
  • Comfortable with quantities. You can take square footage, add waste and get a tile order right
  • Polished and warm with high-end homeowners, and a little nerdy about lead times, SKUs and grout joints
  • Relentless follow-through. You live in your trackers and hit dates without being chased
  • Tech-forward. Google Sheets, ClickUp or similar, comfortable with AI tools, and you actually like working in a system that captures everything
  • Austin-based with reliable transportation
  • A portfolio or work samples. We want to see how you think

Nice to Have

  • JobTread or other construction software
  • Real interest in building science: low- or zero-VOC finishes, formaldehyde-free cabinetry, mold prevention
  • Kitchen and bath remodel experience: plumbing fixtures, tile, cabinetry, lighting

Who Won’t Thrive Here

Being direct so we don’t waste each other’s time:

  • You want the creative side only and find tracking and ordering tedious. Half this job is the details
  • You need reminders to hit deadlines
  • You want a remote role or a strict weekday-only schedule
  • You prefer paper and phone calls. Our whole operation runs on software and AI
  • You want a finished system to maintain. We’re still building ours, and you’ll build it with us

Why This Is Different

You’ll learn high-end residential design directly from a strong Senior Designer, not from the back of a big studio. Design and construction live under one roof, so you see your selections get built and learn how the field actually works. There’s a direct path to Interior Designer as we add design capacity. And every remodel we finish is proof that healthier building works at real-world prices.

The Reality

We’re small, so everyone carries real weight. Demand is ahead of our design capacity right now, which is exactly why this role exists. Some weeks will be a lot: three jobs ordering at once, a backorder that threatens a start date, a client who changes the tile the week it ships.

You’ll get real training from our Senior Designer, then real ownership. Once something is handed to you, it’s yours, and you don’t wait to be told the next step.

We want someone who gets a little obsessed and can’t leave a broken process alone, even when it’s not technically their problem. That’s how the rest of the team works.
