Job summary

SMX is seeking a Data Science Consultant to support our Army client in Montpelier, VT. You will design solutions using Databricks and Palantir Foundry, build data models from ERP data, and convert business requirements into technical specs.

You will collaborate across teams, document outcomes, and ensure test results validate functionality. A Secret Clearance and a CS/CE/EE degree are required for this role, with compensation in the upper market range.

Qualifications

• 2+ years hands-on development experience.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python and Pyspark.
• Experience in data engineering, data science and data analytics.
• Familiarity with Databricks.
• Familiarity with database design and architecture (relational and non-relational).
• Ability to work cross-functionally and participate in discussions.
• Knowledge of cloud architecture: AWS/Azure.
• Competence with software engineering tools and processes (estimation, issue tracking, version control, debugging, etc.).
• Proven ability to work independently on assigned tasks without supervision.
• Proven experience in knowledge sharing (code reviews, solid documentation).
• Driven, self-directed personality.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design new solutions using Databricks (SQL, Python, Pyspark) and Palantir Foundry to deliver capabilities meeting business functional requirements.
• Design modifications to existing data model solutions as needed.
• Define test cases and verify test results to ensure solutions are functioning as designed.
• Build data models and reports using datasets from ERPs and legacy systems.
• Coordinate with stakeholders and users to determine reporting requirements and convert business requirements into technical specifications.
