Job summary

ESS Companies seeks an entry-level Corporate Staff Accountant to join its ESOP culture in Columbia, MO. You will support monthly close, GL maintenance, and vendor payments while learning from the Corporate Accounting Manager. Strong attention to detail and team mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
• Accounting experience preferred; open to varying levels of experience.
• Basic understanding of general ledger accounting and reconciliations.
• Experience with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Construction or corporate accounting experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly close activities, including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Support general ledger maintenance and journal entries.
• Help ensure timely month-end reporting and payment processing.
• Assist with vendor payments and coding transactions accurately.
• Maintain organized accounting records and documentation.
• Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting functions as needed.
