Job summary

Mead Lumber Company is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the corporate office with a range of accounting functions, including financial reporting and cross-department collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have an associate degree in accounting, 1–3 years of progressive accounting experience, and a solid understanding of GAAP, with strong Excel skills and excellent organization. Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting or a related field required.
• One to three years of progressive accounting experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Ability to analyze accounting issues, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude while managing multiple tasks and priorities.
• High level of integrity with the ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and proprietary information.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Establish and maintain accurate vendor account records.
• Assist branch locations with customer payment processing and deposit-related transactions.
• Review and verify the accuracy of monthly corporate credit card transaction coding.
• Review general ledger accounts to identify and correct discrepancies.
• Monitor and maintain sales tax transactions and supporting documentation.
• Assist with the preparation and filing of annual reports, including Personal Property Tax, Form 1099, Unclaimed Property, and Business Licenses.
