Job summary

Turner Construction Company is hiring an Entry Level Project Safety Assistant in Portland for 2027 grads. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, or related field; 1 year of safety experience or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques
• Familiar with Federal, State, and local Environmental Health & Safety regulations
• Familiar with general construction operations
• Ability to identify safety exposures and propose corrective actions
• Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills
• Professional verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to follow directions and meet commitments
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Analytical thinking, good judgment, and problem-solving abilities
• Willingness to work in a non-structured environment and adapt priorities
• Proficient computer skills, MS Office, and collaboration tools
• Limited travel may be required; reliable transportation required

Responsibilities

• Assist with enforcement of EH&S policies on construction projects
• Support training for safe work practices and safety programs
• Review subcontractor safety programs for compliance with regulations
• Review subcontractor training per OSHA standards
• Promote safe work practices and conditions on site
• Administer drug screening program per project requirements
• Coordinate preconstruction meetings
• Conduct worker orientations and record participation
• Gather Pre-Task Plans (PTPs) and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs)
• Maintain safety records (PTPs, JHAs, training, OSHA 300 log)
• Conduct safety meetings and record minutes
• Maintain log of toolbox talks and provide reports to supervisor
• Conduct safety audits and site inspections; recommend corrective actions
• Identify and report safety violations with emphasis on imminent danger
• Perform other duties as assigned
