Job summary

VEIT is seeking an Estimator to gather, calculate, and compile data for bid proposal estimates and manage supplier quotes using HeavyBid. You will contribute to final bid proposals for owners and general contractors in a timely manner.

You’ll need a bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience), proficiency with bidding software, and strong communication skills to coordinate with management and vendors. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 0-2 years bidding/estimating or 5 years field experience; equivalent combinations accepted.
• Proficiency with construction bidding and project management software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Excellent communication across management, vendors, and clients.
• Ability to present information to top management and groups.
• Ability to analyze problems, document data, and draw conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Gather, calculate quantities for projects to factor materials and movements.
• Solicit quotes from subcontractors and collect material quotes.
• Construct bids by adding activities, crews, equipment, and rates.
• Print and deliver bid proposals to owners/GCs within deadlines.
• Determine bid results via contractor communications.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
