Job summary

Veit Management, Inc. is seeking a Project Manager/Estimator to lead bids and manage projects from award to completion. Responsibilities include scheduling, cost containment, progress monitoring, compliance, and active client contact.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of experience in construction bidding or project management, plus proficiency with Viewpoint Vista and HCSS software, MS Office, and strong communication skills. Travel to jobsites is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; minimum of 5 years experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with construction bidding and project management software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Experience with MS Teams desirable but not required.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to present information to all levels of management, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of situations and respond accordingly.
• Ability to seek counsel when needed and use a variety of resources.
• Ability to develop and nurture lasting client relationships.
• Working knowledge of Viewpoint Vista and HCSS construction software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Seek out and complete bid opportunities; develop and maintain client relationships.
• Estimate projects for bid submittal – review plans and specifications, calculate quantities, gather quotes and submittals, construct the bid, and submit.
• Coordinate pre‑construction meetings to ensure communication between project managers, field, and office support.
• Work with operations staff to coordinate construction methods and staffing needs.
• Obtain necessary permits and licensing.
• Manage project costs by tracking labor, equipment, and materials.
• Manage billing with Project Coordinators to ensure accurate invoicing, prepare payables, and manage collections.
• Ensure compliance with all EEO/DBE project requirements.
• Maintain project safety, schedule, and budget performance.
• Troubleshoot any project issues that may arise.
• Obtain approval for change orders and manage scope changes to preserve profitability.
• Coordinate with owners and general contractors to achieve safe and timely completion and adjust scope and timelines as needed.
• Communicate important matters to leadership.
• Maintain a valid Driver’s License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record.
• Occasional travel and overnight stays to jobsites outside the office location area (10%).
