Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join the Mine Waste team in Madison, WI (also considering Lakewood, CO). You will work on TSF, heap leach pads, and waste rock facilities, performing field investigations, site characterization, and facility design in a collaborative regional team.

Ideal for candidates with a Civil/Geotechnical degree, FE exam progress, and a willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 0–1 year of post-education experience.
  • FE exam completed or achievable within 6 months of start date.
  • Strong analytical and numerical calculation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Commitment to safety and code of conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to civil and geotechnical projects for mining and related facilities.
  • Conduct field investigations and construction monitoring.
  • Characterize site materials and perform design calculations.
  • Design grading, storage capacity, and quantities for facilities.
  • Analyze slope stability, seepage, and liner systems.
  • Prepare technical reports documenting investigations and designs.
  • Assist in creating design packages with drawings, specs, schedules, and estimates.
  • Travel for domestic and international field assignments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
