Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Civil/Geotechnical Engineer to join the Reno, NV office. You will support the Mine Waste Team on infrastructure projects, field data collection, analysis, and design documentation, while growing with a multidisciplinary engineering firm.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor's in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, 0–1 year of experience, and a strong interest in geotechnical design, safety, and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0–1 year of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research and analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts and related regulations.
• Competent interpersonal and communication skills for engineering audiences.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with strong self-leadership.
• Ability to work independently under supervision or in a team setting.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and data analysis.
• Familiarity with discipline-specific software (see tools).
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting and analyzing site data (soil, water, samples) for project development and construction.
• Maintain quality control standards for measurements and documentation.
• Support geotechnical engineering work: subsurface investigations, settlement analysis, slope stability, and soil/rock mechanics.
