Job summary

Colonna’s Shipyard is seeking a Junior CAD Operator for Steel America in Norfolk, VA. You will translate concepts into precise blueprints, 3D models, and technical specifications to guide fabrication and machining.

Work closely with project managers, production teams, and clients to ensure designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and project requirements while maintaining accurate documentation and effective communication throughout the shipyard environment.

Qualifications

• Associate's in Drafting or related degree.
• Proactive information gathering and data transformation.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drawings and models with multiple views and assemblies.
• Support shop drawings, cutting lists, and revisions using AutoCAD.
• Provide sketches and models from Superintendents to determine needed views.
• Coordinate with project management, production, and clients to ensure designs meet requirements.
• Develop and implement design department standards.
• Maintain project records and document transmittals.
